Our Fence Installation Process: What to Expect from Start to Finish

Kirby Smith • January 12, 2026

Step 1: We Call to Gather Details and Confirm Fit

After we receive your request, we’ll give you a call to learn more about your project and make sure we’re a good fit for each other.

We’ll ask about things like:
• Fence type and style
• Approximate footage
• Gate needs
• Timeline and priorities

This helps us understand your expectations and ensures we don’t waste your time (or ours) if we’re not aligned on budget, scope, or scheduling.

Step 2: Ballpark Pricing & Scheduling an On-Site Visit

In many cases, we can provide a ballpark price range over the phone based on your information.

Sometimes, however, the project requires an on-site visit to give accurate pricing — especially if there are slopes, obstacles, tight access, or complex layouts.

Either way, if everything sounds good, we’ll schedule an on-site visit during that phone call when needed to:
• Confirm measurements
• Review layout
• Discuss final design details

Step 3: You Receive a Formal Written Estimate

After we have the information we need, we’ll send you a formal written estimate by email.

This allows you to:
• Review the full scope of work
• See exactly what’s included
• Ask any final questions
• Accept electronically when you’re ready

No pressure — we want you to feel confident in your decision.

 Step 4: Deposit & On-Site Project Verification

Once you accept the estimate, we’ll collect the deposit and then conduct a final on-site verification (if not already completed) to lock in:
• Fence line placement
• Gate locations and swing direction
• Any special considerations

The deposit secures your place on our production schedule and reserves crew time and materials for your project. Because crews and materials are scheduled in advance, those production days can’t be easily moved on short notice. The deposit helps ensure both sides are committed and allows us to keep projects moving without delays.

This step prevents surprises on install day and ensures everyone is on the same page before we build.

Step 5: You Receive an Approximate Install Date

Next, you’ll be emailed your approximate schedule date.

Because we work outdoors and schedules can be affected by:
• Weather
• Material deliveries
• Prior project conditions

we schedule in windows rather than hard calendar guarantees — but we communicate clearly if anything changes.

 Step 6: Installation Day

Barring any unexpected delays, our crew will arrive on your scheduled day and complete your installation according to the agreed-upon scope.

We take pride in:
• Proper post depth
• Quality materials
• Clean, professional workmanship

This isn’t a builder-grade fence — it’s built to last.

Step 7: Final Walk-Through & Final Payment

Once installation is complete, we’ll do a final walk-through with you to make sure:
• Everything looks right
• Gates operate properly
• Any concerns are addressed

After that, we’ll handle final payment and officially wrap up the project.

Nobody likes surprise charges. Here are the real-world factors that sometimes push fence costs higher than expected, and what you should know about each one.

At Legacy Fence, we’ve installed thousands of feet of fencing across Yukon, Edmond, Nichols Hills, and the greater Oklahoma City metro, and while costs can vary depending on materials and design, we’ve broken down a realistic range for 200 feet of fence. Whether you’re looking for simple functionality, privacy, or high-end curb appeal, here’s what you can expect.

If you’ve ever shopped around for a new fence in Oklahoma, you’ve probably noticed that estimates can vary widely from one contractor to the next. On the surface, it may seem like you’re comparing apples to apples—but in reality, there are major differences in the way companies approach materials, installation, and overall quality. Before diving into the types of fences, let’s first look at some general reasons why fence quotes differ so much. Beyond Materials: What Really Affects Price Every fence company operates differently. Training, experience, and attention to detail play a huge role in the final outcome of your fence. A crew that takes shortcuts may be cheaper, but the fence won’t hold up the same way. • Installation methods: How deep posts are set, what hardware is used, and the care taken in alignment and finishing all impact the cost and longevity. At Legacy Fence we set .095 gauge steel posts in 27” of concrete. • Quality of workers: A well-trained team can install faster and better, but they come at a higher cost than unskilled labor. We don’t just hire anyone off the street and hope they can follow instructions—every team member is thoroughly trained, ensuring consistent quality and craftsmanship on every fence we build. • Overhead: Each company has its own business model, which affects pricing—but that doesn’t mean the cheapest is the best deal. Now, let’s break it down by material.
