Our Story

Building Oklahoma Fences the Right Way Since 2007

Legacy Fence was built on a simple belief: every fence should be installed with the right materials, the right methods, and the right level of care — the first time.

19+ Years of Craftsmanship in the OKC Metro

Legacy Fence has been serving Oklahoma City, Yukon, Edmond, and surrounding communities since 2007. In that time, we've installed over 3,000 fences — each one built with the same attention to detail and quality materials that define our standard.

How We Started

A Company Built on the Belief That Fences Should Be Done Right

Legacy Fence was founded in 2007 by Kirby Smith with a straightforward mission: build fences the right way, every time. After years of watching homeowners get burned by contractors who cut corners on materials and rushed through jobs, Kirby set out to create a company that did things differently.

From the beginning, Legacy Fence has focused exclusively on fencing. This isn't a side service — it's all we do. That specialization means our crews have installed thousands of fences, refined our methods, and developed a deep understanding of what works in Oklahoma's unique soil and weather conditions.

Today, Legacy Fence serves the entire Oklahoma City metro area — from Edmond to Norman, Yukon to Guthrie — with the same commitment to quality that defined our very first installation. We use true Western Red Cedar, heavy-gauge steel posts, 2×4 runners, and Simpson Strong-Tie brackets on every job, because we know those details are what separate a fence that lasts from one that fails.

We're not the cheapest option in the market, and we're proud of that. We build fences that last decades, not years — and we stand behind every one of them.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

These aren't words on a wall — they're the principles that guide every decision we make on every job.

Do It Right the First Time

No shortcuts, no rushed work — just proven methods done correctly from the start. We believe in building fences that last.

Take Pride in the Details

Straight lines, clean transitions, and consistent workmanship matter. The small details are what separate a good fence from a great one.

Quality Over Shortcuts

We don't compete on being the cheapest. We use better materials and better methods to deliver long-term value that saves you money over time.

Be Honest and Straightforward

Clear communication, realistic expectations, and no runaround. We say what we mean and follow through on it — every time.

Respect the Customer's Property

Every jobsite is treated with care and professionalism, from the first post to the final cleanup. We leave your property better than we found it.

Show Up and Follow Through

We do what we say we're going to do — when we say we're going to do it. Reliability is non-negotiable.

Built for Oklahoma Conditions

We build with the local environment in mind — high winds, shifting clay soil, and extreme weather swings that test every fence we install.

Take Ownership

If there's a problem, we handle it. No excuses, no passing blame. Our workmanship guarantee means we stand behind every fence we build.

Kirby Smith

Founder & Owner, Legacy Fence

Kirby Smith founded Legacy Fence in 2007 with a clear vision: to build fences the right way and set a new standard for fence installation in the Oklahoma City metro. With 19+ years of hands-on experience, Kirby has personally overseen thousands of installations and developed the specific material standards and installation methods that define Legacy Fence's reputation.

Kirby's approach is simple: use better materials, follow proven methods, and never cut corners. He's built Legacy Fence on the belief that homeowners deserve a fence contractor who treats their property with the same care they would their own — and who stands behind their work long after the job is done.

When you work with Legacy Fence, you're working with a company where the owner's reputation is on the line with every single installation. That accountability drives everything we do.

Transparency First

Our Customer Policies

No surprises. Here's exactly how we operate — so you know what to expect from start to finish.

Deposit Policy

A deposit is required to reserve your project in our schedule. This secures dedicated production time and allows us to begin preparing materials. Deposits ensure both parties are committed to moving forward.

Scheduling & Delays

We provide an approximate installation timeframe. Weather, material availability, and unforeseen site conditions may affect scheduling — but we communicate any updates as they arise.

Property Lines

The customer is responsible for confirming property lines and fence placement prior to installation. If property pins are not visible, we recommend having them located before work begins.

Utilities & Obstructions

Public utilities will be located prior to digging. However, Legacy Fence is not responsible for unmarked or private lines, including sprinkler systems, gas lines from the meter to the home, or septic systems.

Payment Terms

Final payment is due upon completion of the project. We accept cash, check, CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, and card payments. Financing is also available.

Workmanship Guarantee

We stand behind our work and take pride in building fences that last. If there is an issue related to our installation, we will address it promptly — no excuses, no runaround.
